  Classification

Due to its unique structure, soft ceramics attract the attention of specialists and are widely used in various industries. Most refractory products are subject to severe stress, and good insulation and damping are required to compensate. Fiber products fully cover such needs and can be used in enterprises, in the chemical industry, in aviation or in the aerospace industry.

Such materials consist of fibers, the average length of which is 100-250 mm, and the diameter is 2-5 microns. The classification of this product is quite extensive and includes many factors. So, the fibers are divided into crystalline and with a microstructure, oxide and non-oxide. This composition is regulated by GOST, which is guided by the production.

The most popular are karmic soft products based on SiC and Si3N4, which are divided into several categories depending on the melting temperature:

  • low grade - 800 ~ 1100 ℃;
  • medium 1100~1300℃;
  • top quality 1300~1500℃.

The latter materials are the most popular, such products are used for the assembly of aircraft or for completing furnaces in the chemical industry or in metallurgy. During its manufacture, control samples are regularly tested for compliance with the most stringent quality standards. This guarantees reliability and safety, and these criteria are very important when completing installations.

Properties

Ceramic fibers have the following unique properties:

  • resistance to high temperature - can withstand heating up to 1500 ℃ and not lose their qualities;
  • good insulation - the material does not conduct heat well, therefore it is used as an insulator;
  • light weight - due to which there is practically no load on the frame;
  • high strength - which is maintained even when exposed to critical temperatures;
  • chemical resistance - resistant to the influence of acids, alkalis and other reagents;
  • anti-corrosion resistance - even in conditions of high humidity, the fibers are not destroyed.

It is important to create good conditions for such ceramic products, for this you should be guided by the requirements of GOST. In the manufacture of products, all the criteria by which the quality of materials is evaluated are taken into account. Control samples are heated, if necessary, additional testing can be carried out. Based on the results, a conclusion is drawn up on the suitability of materials for operation.

Products made of ceramic fibers are an excellent addition to refractory components for lining furnaces and other similar equipment. Due to their lightness, they are popular for the manufacture of aircraft, the materials withstand the heating of the skin, and isolate internal systems from high temperatures.
