▶  Project Background

Beijing Daxing International Airport, a national strategic project endorsed by the Central Government and the State Council, embodies the principles of “Safe, Green, Smart, and Humanistic.” The construction required the highest standards in energy efficiency, fire safety, and environmental protection of materials. As an essential part of the airport, the China Eastern Airlines Base facilities (cargo terminal, maintenance hangar, etc.) needed to meet:
1. High fire safety standards: With high occupancy and fire load in cargo storage areas, insulation materials had to be Class A non-combustible.
2. Efficient thermal insulation: Beijing’s hot summers and cold winters demanded reduced building energy consumption, meeting the 3-star Green Building Design standard.
3. Durability and stability: Long-term airport operation required materials with no deformation, detachment, or performance degradation over decades.
4. Environmental and health requirements: Materials needed to be non-toxic, harmless, and meet indoor environmental health standards.

1. Tailored material selection and design:

  • External wall insulation: High-density rock wool boards (≥140kg/m³, tensile strength ≥10kPa), Class A1 non-combustible, thermal conductivity ≤0.040 W/(m·K).
  • Roof insulation: Hydrophobic rock wool boards (water repellency ≥99%), preventing water penetration and ensuring long-term insulation.
  • Fireproof isolation belts: Installed in key cargo terminal areas to prevent fire spread.
