Innovation begins with discovery
Refractory product design engineers, generally based on the characteristics of the refractory raw materials to predict the function of the product and applicable environment. What happens if the actual results are not as expected? For example, intense thermal shock causes the refractory lining to wear out faster than expected, or even spall off. Refractory materials sometimes behave or turn out in ways we don't expect in real-world environments.
It is in these unpredictable results that provide us with opportunities for learning and research. When refractory materials fail to perform as expected in extreme thermal, mechanical or chemical attack environments, they often exhibit previously unconsidered properties. It is behaviors, experiences such as these, that can drive breakthrough innovations, whether it is discovering new applications or improving safety measures.
These anomalies become opportunities for continuous improvement. By carefully analyzing how and why refractories deviate from their specifications, we can discover new properties that help us develop more advanced products.
